UX Excellence in a Traditional Design Agency Setting

Plus Group
Three Companies, One Roof
My work with Plus Group was a textbook example of guiding a client through a new web design process from A-Z. The company was a longtime client of Openfield’s, and when the need for a new website became clear, they turned to us to create it.
I spearheaded the initial conversations with the client, asking about their wants, needs, and benchmarks. I learned everything I could about their unique business model – essentially three companies under the same roof – and knew that their website would need special care in order to truly serve them in all of the right ways.
During the design and development process I hosted a weekly 1:1 with their team’s Project Manager, working through feedback, testing, brainstorming, and anything else they wished to discuss with my team.
In the end we were able to deliver a stunning website which caters to PlusGroup’s unique business model. Check it out here.
Fast Park
Park Fast & Relax
Fast Park is one of the most popular airport parking solutions in the US. My work on the FastPark website was primarily centered around wireframes, user journeys, and UX design. This was a pretty big client for the firm, and many hands were in this pot, but I’m proud to say many of the design and UX decisions I implemented are still in use to this day.
A major point of emphasis for my role in this project was working on the new User Rewards program. This started with a client proposal for what they believed their User Reward program should look like, and after doing some in depth research into best practices for these programs, we were able to pivot them into a better solution. This helped build trust with their team, and eventually lead to an entire design process – starting with wireframes, then design and development – of our proposed User Reward Program.
Another area where my input is still felt today are the individual airport hubs. We rebuilt these screens from scratch, again going through the wireframe process and eventually into design and built. We conducted UX research and user testing to determine what information FastPark users needed to know when purchasing parking – usually something, we found, is done on location or just before leaving for the airport – and giving it to them in an organized dashboard. Users of the FastPark website can now see, at a glance, airport delays, weather, distance from the parking lot to the airport, special rates, specific airport amenities, and more. You can check that out here.
Park Place
Your Place to Park
A company related to Fast Park, Park Place is one of the more popular city parking services and owners of long term / monthly parking garages and lots in the US. Openfield was responsible for the creation of the website, as well as the UX involved in the membership portal and shopping cart solution.
This was my first project assigned to me at Openfield, and I’m proud to say that my UX solutions are still in place today. I was tasked with creating a better user journey for purchasing monthly parking from Park Place garages. I worked with the team to conduct research into other monthly parking services, and found exactly what steps needed to be present in the workflow in order to both give Park Place all of the information they need from a user, as well as make the experience completely painless for the user themselves.
